10 Foolproof Makeup Tricks
Makeup makes a world of difference. Putting it on is simple enough - but it takes some skill to do it right and keep it on. Here are some makeup secrets that will help you look gorgeous all day long.
1. Foundation Basics
Start with a clean face. Then, apply moisturizer, sunscreen, or primer to hydrate your skin. Let the moisturizer, sunscreen, or primer set for a few minutes. Get rid of any excess substance with a tissue. If you’re using liquid foundation, use a makeup sponge or the tips of your fingers to apply dots of foundation on your cheeks, chin, forehead, and the tip of your nose. Blend the dots together. Pay special attention to your hairline and jaw line to ensure there’s no obvious line. If you’re using powder foundation, place some on the same spots and then blend as well. Set the foundation with loose powder immediately after application.
2. Concealer Technique
Dab some dots of concealer on the blemished spots on your face. Next, place moisturizer on your face. Then, apply powder or liquid foundation. Blend it in with the concealer.
3. Standard Eyeliner
To prevent eyeliner from easily dissolving in a pool of sweat or tears, apply a thin layer of foundation before you line your eyes. For a natural looking eyeliner and the illusion of thick lashes, use a dark brown eye pencil and carefully press a series of dots between your lashes following your lash line.
3. Lip Color
Make your lip color last longer by placing a coat of lip gloss before applying lipstick and lip liner that matches the shade of your lips. Before drawing a line with the lip liner, begin by dotting it at various points along the outline of your lips. Then, drawing very lightly, use the liner to connect the dots. Then, top it off with another coat of lip gloss.
4. Eye Definition
To get smoky eyes, use dark pencil eyeliner to bring out your eyes. Choose eye shadows in rich browns, deep grays, and dark reddish hues. You may opt to use brown mascara on your bottom lashes and black for your top lashes. For a little bit of a “cat’s eyes” look, extend the liner just slightly past the outer corner of your eye, extending it upward. Apply a coat of black mascara to your eyelashes.
5. Hair Frizz Solution
To get rid of frizz in your hair, dampen your hands with water and a drop of hand lotion. Then, gently pull your hair into a French twist for at least 10 minutes. You’ll be frizz-free when you take down your strands.
7. Brow Control
Tame your messy brows brushing them straight up with an eyebrow brush or a dry toothbrush. Draw short, feathery strokes on the hairs around the sparse areas. Use an eye-shadow, which matches your brows to make the desired shape. Press some powder lightly onto the area before you brush them back to their natural shape.
8. Touch-Up
You can freshen up your skin and touch up your makeup fast by lightly misting your face with toner and then patting with a tissue. Finish with a dusting of loose powder.
9. Instant Hydration
You can use conditioner to moisturize your hair, as well as your body. You simply have to massage it into your skin while you’re taking a bath. Then you just rinse and dry off. The conditioner will hydrate nearly as well as body lotion and you won’t have to wait for it to seep into your pores.
10. Hand Care
Get gorgeous hands by removing all polish, cleaning under your nails (with lemon juice, if you have it) and massaging the thickest lotion you can find into your cuticles.
