Home Electrolysis: Should You Take the Chance?
Having body and facial hair where you do not want it requires some form of hair removal be it shaving, plucking, waxing, laser or electrolysis. This mini-guide will discuss home electrolysis and whether it is worth taking the chance to do it yourself. Personally, I would not recommend it but when you want a longer lasting hair removal method and do not have access to a professional or you cannot afford the procedure then it is your choice. Electrolysis done by a trained professional is the process of electrical current being applied to the hair follicle via a tiny needle to remove individual hairs and kill the root to halt further hair growth. It is not typical for the average consumer to have access to the professional equipment required for this procedure thus it is not recommended.
You can get home electrolysis kits online or in a retail beauty supply store but these do not provide the same professional results as in a salon. The home kits do not use a needle and do not enter the hair follicle as in the professional treatment so the results are not likely to be permanent. If you do have access to professional equipment but do not know how to use it you are putting yourself at risk for infection or permanent skin damage if you try it. The choice to take the chance on do-it-yourself home electrolysis is up to you but you should be aware of the consequences if you plan to try this on your own.
Whether you are using a home kit or professional equipment you will need to make sure your instruments are well sterilized before performing the procedure. You may also want to invest in a topical pain killer before you do this yourself as you may as well expect this to hurt when you try home electrolysis. You will probably not get the best results when you do this yourself and again, you are risking skin damage or infection. You will most likely not get permanent results since you are not a trained electrolysis professional whether you use professional equipment or a home kit. If you choose to use this method and do it yourself you will also need to prepare your skin by exfoliating and cleaning the areas from which you plan to remove hair. Please take every precaution to be safe and keep your electrolysis equipment sterilized.
