Laser Hair Removal Prescriptions
On your taxes can you write off for laser hair removal, etc.?
I was wondering about spa treatments for laser hair removal, laser removal for under eye circles, tattoo removal, prescription ointments, paid consultations and can you factor in mileage to and from a doctors office since the procedures are being done by a medical doctor.
Medical expenses are only deductible if they exceed 7.5% of your gross income, and if they are medically necessary.
So, if your gross income is $40,000, the first $3,000 (or 7.5%) of expenses is on you anyway. Anything after that if you can show it is medically necessary (not cosmetic) can be deducted.
If you work for an employer that offers flexible spending accounts for health care, you can set aside some money for some of these services that way, and get to pay them on a pre-tax basis.
