Here are some of the easy steps and recipes that you can use in making your own hair, facial and skin care products. Making your own beauty products can make you save money and allow you to pamper yourself in a new way.

Make a cream shampoo: heat 2 cups of water in a saucepan. Add 1 cup of soap flakes and stir to dissolve. Remove pan from the heat and add 1 ½ of glycerin and ¾ cups of borax; if you want you can add a few drops of your favorite perfume. Stir the mixture thoroughly, then pour it in a quart jar and cover it. Let it cool before using. To make a clay facial mask; you will need 1 ½ teaspoons of beeswax put it on top of a double boiler then add 4 tablespoons of anhydrous lanolin. Stir to blend. Add 1 cup of rose water or plain water, then add 1 tablespoon of borax and stir to dissolve. Pour the mixture to the melted wax. Add ½ pound of fuller’s earth to the blended wax and water, stirring to a smooth paste. Let it cool before using. Make heavy duty lotion: mix ¼ cup of glycerin, 2 tablespoons of bay rum, 2 tablespoons of witch hazel and 2 tablespoons of rose water. Stir thoroughly and store in a jar.
